Vision

With LOVE, MJ was formally established in 2021, but its roots date back to 2006, when founder Melissa A. Johnson first conceived the idea, guided by a deep commitment to empowering others. 

Her experience in Workforce Development emphasized the critical importance of collaboration among agencies to provide comprehensive support services to clients. A specific client, who had lost her job due to a high-risk pregnancy, needed guidance on accessing housing, utility assistance, and food banks. Melissa's inquiry about a centralized database or directory of community resources yielded an unhelpful packet of outdated papers, but this challenge only fueled her passion to create lasting change. This encounter motivated her to invest time in identifying and connecting with Philadelphia-based service providers to better serve the community.
